Who we are

The 3 Villages Flood Group is a volunteer-led organization formed by concerned residents of Mudford, Chilton Cantelo, and Ashington. Our group includes members from diverse backgrounds who have come together with a shared goal: to minimise the impact of floods on our villages and ensure our community is prepared to respond effectively.

The 3 Villages Flood Group is comprised of a dedicated committee of 10 members representing the diverse interests of our community. We work closely with local residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to:

  • Raise awareness: Educate the community about flood risks, early warning systems, and emergency procedures.
  • Improve preparedness: Encourage and support flood risk assessments, property-level flood protection measures, and emergency planning.
  • Enhance community resilience: Foster a strong sense of community spirit and support networks to assist during and after flood events.
  • Advocate for change: Work with local and national authorities to advocate for improved flood defences, drainage infrastructure, and emergency response capabilities.

“To ensure resilience to regular flooding in our villages by preparing our communities to respond effectively to flooding or other emergencies that might affect them”.

Three Village Flood Group are based at Mudford Village Hall, but we have members spread out across the three villages of Mudford/Sock, Ashington & Chilton Cantelo.

Mudford Village Hall, has now been designated as a ‘safe space’ for those who have been flooded, or are cold and need of comfort in the event of flooding or power cuts, they can offer tea/coffee blankets.
